28 Sep The Ōnin Group acquires Universal Labor & Staffing

The Ōnin Group has acquired Universal Labor & Staffing, a Texas-based staffing company specializing in providing strategic temporary labor solutions for Global 1000 corporations.

The transaction closed Sept. 27.

With a 30-year history of providing staffing and managed services programs to national and global customers, Universal Labor & Staffing specializes in creating solutions that minimize temporary labor costs, optimize existing supply chains, and improve reporting and management capabilities and service levels.

“All of us at Universal Labor & Staffing are excited to join the Ōnin team,” said Clif Baker, President of Universal Labor & Staffing. “Over the last 10 years I have built my company on a foundation of trust, integrity, taking care of our teammates and focusing on our customer needs. I believe we share these same values and philosophies with Ōnin.”

The Ōnin Group is a Birmingham-based privately held group of companies that includes Ōnin Staffing, Excelsior Staffing, A3 Solutions, Focus IT and Ōnin Professional Search. Ōnin’s core business is staffing, where they rank in the top two percent of domestic staffing companies in sales volume and rank as one of SIA’s fastest growing staffing firms year after year.

“I am excited to welcome the staff, customers and teammates of Universal Labor & Staffing to the Ōnin team,” said Jim Weaver, COO of The Ōnin Group. “Ōnin has focused on attracting, developing and retaining top talent, and we know the acquisition of Universal Labor & Staffing will expand our service capabilities. Both companies share a similar culture and values, so we are proud to incorporate the excellent reputation of Universal Labor & Staffing with Ōnin’s brand.”

Following the sale of Universal Labor & Staffing, Mr. Baker will open a new Miami-based Ōnin Staffing office.
